Bringing everyday life, faith, and community in Revolutionary-era America to life through first-person interpretation.
Step into the daily life of Revolutionary-era America through living history, storytelling, and first-person interpretation rooted in real people and real events.

PARSON JOHN

Parson John is an 18th century itinerate minister found traversing his circuit in the Colony of Virginia with frequent journeys to the Carolinas and northern colonies.

MAGGIE DELANEY

Maggie is an indentured servant who along with her family were driven off their land in Ireland. Her adventures culminate in her being alone in a hopeless situation.

CHARACTER DEMONSTRATIONS

Maggie and the Ould Badger are examples of Character Demonstrations which help bring the past to life by showing how documented people from our history react and survive in various historic settings.
First-Person Interpretation
Visitors engage directly with historical characters who speak and act as people of the 18th century would have, based on documented lives and period sources.

Everyday Life in the 1700s
We interpret the routines, challenges, and relationships of common people — not just famous names — to show how history was lived day to day.

Public Programs & Events
From museums and historic sites to schools and community events, we offer educational programs tailored to the audience and setting.
Support Our Work

Parson John Living History, Inc. is supported through donations and honorariums that help offset the costs of travel, lodging, and maintaining the equipment needed to present living history programs. Over the past 21 years, we have traveled nearly one million miles to share Revolutionary-era history with audiences across the country.
